Good morning, Vinton County. Did you know America's fastest-growing sport is now becoming more accessible to everyone? The new Adaptive Pickleball league at Athens Community Center is breaking down barriers by welcoming participants of all abilities starting September 2. This free program joins a growing movement of inclusive recreation opportunities in our region, giving anyone with a disability aged 8 and up the chance to join the pickleball phenomenon every Tuesday evening through mid-November.

Meanwhile, Village Productions is throwing open its doors for Bring a Friend Week, offering a budget-friendly way to experience classes at their Amesville facility. From August 25-29, current students can introduce a friend to activities at no cost, or new participants can split the fee. For students seeking entertainment beyond the classroom, Athens' festival calendar promises year-round diversions—from September's Pawpaw Festival celebrating local fruit to the legendary Halloween Block Party and spring's beloved "Fest Season" traditions.
