Good morning, Vinton County. The RedStorm volleyball squad showed their resilience at the OnSet Invitational, splitting their opening day with a commanding straight-set victory over Defiance College before falling in a nail-biting five-setter against Rochester Christian. Standout performances from redshirt freshman Taylor Bartrum (12 kills) and senior Elle McLoughlin (24 assists) highlighted a promising start to the tournament, with more action continuing today against Spring Arbor and Aquinas.
Meanwhile, the Meigs County Historical Society is preparing for a remarkable milestoneβ150 years of preserving our region's rich heritage. From its humble beginnings in 1876 as the Pioneer Society to its current museum campus in Middleport, these dedicated history keepers have safeguarded our collective memory for generations. Their sesquicentennial celebration next September promises a fitting tribute to this enduring legacy of preservation. Our thoughts are also with the family of motorcyclist Bryan Dyke, who tragically lost his life in a collision on State Route 32.

ποΈ Meigs County's history keepers celebrate 150 years of preserving the past. The Meigs County Historical Society, originally founded as the Pioneer Society in 1876, began with a mission to collect stories from early settlers before they were lost forever. From humble courthouse meetings, the organization grew to establish its first museum in 1976 at the Finsterwald Funeral Home property, later expanding to a larger campus in Middleport in 2017. The society will mark its sesquicentennial with a free public celebration on September 6, 2025, featuring refreshments, music, tours, and a glimpse at the ongoing renovation of the historic 1872 Hall Complex.
