🏠 Property plot twist

Summit County • July 24, 2025

Good morning, Summit County. Real estate gambits don't always pay off, as evidenced by the Hill Chateau apartments failing to attract buyers at auction. This unconventional sales approach for Akron's residential market came up empty while other developments like the Goodrich luxury apartments continue expanding their footprint. It's a reminder that even in the same city, property fortunes can vary dramatically from one neighborhood to the next.

Meanwhile, Summit County's cultural scene is hitting stratospheric heights. The Summit Choral Society received a prestigious Carnegie Hall invitation as part of their "Milestones in Music" season, while University of Akron researchers have created "BEVA 371 Akron," a revolutionary art conservation adhesive that's solving problems for museums worldwide. From preserving priceless paintings to showcasing local vocal talent on international stages, our community continues making its mark far beyond Northeast Ohio.

☕️ What's Brewing Locally

Brewing Locally Image

🏢 Akron's 60-unit Hill Chateau apartment fails to attract buyers at auction. The residential building was put up for auction in a strategic gambit by its broker, who tried an unconventional approach for the local market. Apartment buildings rarely go to auction compared to commercial properties, making this an unusual sales attempt. The article indicates the auction strategy was influenced by Akron's unique real estate environment. Meanwhile, other Akron developments are advancing, including the Goodrich luxury apartments which are doubling their units.

🎨 University of Akron revives crucial art conservation adhesive. Researchers developed "BEVA 371 Akron," a sustainable replacement for a 1972 formula used to reinforce aging canvases. The Cleveland Museum of Art helped test the adhesive, which solves the problem of deteriorating paintings without damaging the original artwork. The new formula replaces discontinued ingredients with modern alternatives, creating a better solution for the "lining" process that adds support to fragile canvases. Two additional formulations are in development, spreading Akron's name throughout the global art conservation community.
