🌮 Canton's Tacos & Tequila Music Fest brings Flo Rida to Hall of Fame Village. The Cinco de Mayo celebration will rock Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium on Saturday, May 3, from noon to 10 p.m. Attendees can enjoy performances by Ginuwine, Twista, and DJ Skribble, alongside Lucha Libre wrestling throughout the day. 🗳️ Township trustees back crucial 1% sales tax renewal. Perry Township leaders joined other Columbiana County officials in supporting the May 6 ballot measure, citing tremendous benefits to the township. All three trustees emphasized their strong collaborative relationship with county offices including prosecutor, engineer, and sheriff. The board also appointed Daniel Kaiser to replace Ron Poage on the Zoning Appeals Board after his 34-year tenure. Additionally, trustees approved a $10,373 energy grant and distributed $1,500 in community sponsorships to local organizations.

Ronald Dean Morrison of Canton, Ohio, passed away on April 13, 2025, at the age of 64. Born in Massillon, Ohio on February 17, 1961, he was known for his wit, creative spirit, and dedication to his beliefs despite never having been formally employed. Ronald is survived by his ex-wife Patty Broadwater, two children Samantha and Jessie, and four grandchildren, while being preceded in death by his parents. His legacy will be remembered through a memorial page where loved ones can share memories and photographs.

Mary Hinkel, 86, of Canton, passed away on April 11, 2025. Born in 1938, she was a lifetime member of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church and was known for her spunk, delicious baklava, and dedication to serving others. Mary found her greatest joy in family, music, and dancing. She is preceded in death by her husband Edward and brother George, and is survived by her three daughters, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and other extended family members.

Theresa I. Esber, an 83-year-old special education teacher with Canton City Schools, passed away on April 12, 2025. She dedicated her life to education and volunteered extensively as a guardian ad litem with Stark County Family Court, a pet visitor with the Humane Society, and at Sancta Clara Monastery. Known for her warmth, kindness, and passion for life, Theresa enjoyed gardening, reading, and knitting in her spare time. She is survived by her son Alex and sister Sister Evelyn Dettling, with a memorial service scheduled for April 23, 2025.

David Craig Lambert, 62, of Canton, passed away on April 15, 2025. Born in Canton, Ohio on May 26, 1962, he served in the United States Air Force from 1984 to 1988 and worked at M.K. Morse Company for 38 years. He was a member of First Christian Church of Malvern and is survived by his mother, several siblings, and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at First Christian Church of Malvern on April 21, followed by a funeral service and burial at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Pilar Phillips, 88, of Canton, passed away on April 15, 2025, at her home. Born in Cebu, Philippines in 1936, she was a devoted member of the Northwest Church of Christ and worked as a waitress at the Holiday Inn, known for her warm hospitality. Pilar was preceded in death by her husband David, her parents, two sisters, and a stepdaughter. She is survived by two stepchildren, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren who will remember her fondly. Services will be held on April 22 at Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home, followed by burial at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.

Alice Marie Hershey, 89, of Apple Creek, Ohio, passed away on April 14, 2025, leaving behind her husband of 69 years, Lloyd, along with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Born in 1935 in Massillon, Ohio, Alice was known for her deep love for Jesus, gentle kindness, and unwavering care for family and others. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, bird watching, and sewing in her earlier years. Funeral services will be held on April 21-22, with visitation at Spidell Funeral Home and a service at Beach City Bible Methodist Church, followed by burial at Hayesville Cemetery.

Robert Rohrbaugh, 72, of North Lawrence, Ohio, passed away on April 16, 2025, leaving behind his wife Sharla, two stepdaughters, six step-grandchildren, and a sister. A dedicated educator, Bob taught seventh-grade science at Jackson Middle School for 35 years, earning numerous honors including the Presidential Award for Excellence in 1989. He held degrees from Ohio State University and Ashland University, and made significant environmental contributions by establishing the Jackson Land Laboratory and Jackson Bog State Nature Preserve. Beyond his professional achievements, Bob was active in numerous scientific organizations and enjoyed traveling to destinations worldwide.

Elva Lloyd, 84, passed away on April 14, 2025, at The Laurels of Massillon after living most of her life in Canton, Ohio since 1950. A graduate of Canton McKinley High School, she worked as a nurse and retired from the SCCAA Head Start program in 1991, while also being active in community organizations like the Buckskin Association. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William, her children Robbin and William T., and several nieces and other family members. A visitation will be held on April.18, 2025, at Sanders Funeral Home, followed by burial at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

William A. "Billy" Paoletto

William "Billy" A. Paoletto, 67, of Canton, passed away on April 12, 2025, after being born on December 26, 1957 to William and Bertha Paoletto, Sr. He was a Lehman High School graduate who attended Kent State University and worked as a professional caddy for various golf tours, while also being known as an avid fisherman and excellent painter. Billy is survived by his son Antonio Daniels and four brothers with their families. A memorial service will be held at Rossi Family Funeral Home on Thursday, with inurnment at Forest Hill Cemetery later.

Darlene Michelle Bryant (April 21, 1963 - April 12, 2025) passed away peacefully just before her 62nd birthday, leaving behind a legacy of love, music, and faith. A compassionate nurse who later became a truck driver alongside her husband Clark, Darlene was also a talented singer who performed widely, including at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and with church choirs. She took great pride in her accomplishments, including passing the Massillon Fire Department agility test, and cherished her family, especially her two sons and nine grandchildren. Darlene's life is remembered as a beautiful melody of love, service, and praise that touched countless lives.

Glenn R. Slicker, 62, passed away on April 14, 2025, at Aultman Hospital. Born in Canton, Ohio in 1962 and a graduate of Louisville High School, Glenn worked as a truck driver, most recently for Paul Adelman Trucking. He embraced life on his own terms, finding freedom on the road whether driving his truck or riding his Harley motorcycle. Glenn is survived by his mother, Kara Lynn Sprankle, his sister Sandy Jones, two nieces, and a great-niece and nephew, with services planned for April 19, 2025, at Sanders Funeral Home.

Abe R. Troyer, 87, of Apple Creek passed away on April 16, 2025, leaving behind his wife Verba, whom he married in 1957. He worked at the Maysville Elevator and Kidron Auction for nearly 50 years and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Survivors include his children Freeman and Mary, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a sister, while he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and two sisters. The funeral will be held on April 18, 2025, at the Joni Hostetler residence with burial at Maysville Cemetery.
