A free closing reception with live music and awards will be held May 13 at 5:30 p.m. in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts lobby.
🎧 DJ Geek Techneek rallies community for local cleanup initiative. Liz Pratt, known by her DJ name, has become one of Scioto County's positive influencers after settling in the area. Like many who drift into the community for work, she found herself captivated by the region's potential rather than continuing to float along. The Appalachian foothills, revitalizing downtown Portsmouth, and growing nonprofit presence inspired her to plant roots. Her story represents how newcomers can become vital contributors to community improvement efforts.
🙏 Parents of addicted adults find hope in new Scioto County. Life Point Church has expanded its community offerings with a new Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL) support group. The free weekly meetings provide education, fellowship, and evidence-based practices to help parents navigate the challenges of having an adult child struggling with addiction. PAL creates a space where parents can exchange ideas and suggestions through peer support. The program aims to teach healthy coping mechanisms while offering something crucial to families affected by addiction: hope.
