Preble County • June 30, 2025
Good morning, Preble County. There's something powerful about a shared meal among those who've walked similar paths. Throughout our region, veterans are finding camaraderie and support at regular gatherings like the monthly Warrior's Dinner at Jack & Betty's Diner. Beyond the food, these events offer something equally nourishing—connection. From euchre tournaments to karaoke nights, these gatherings create spaces where service members can access resources like free ID cards and even preventative dental care through local partnerships.
The summer sky will soon light up with celebration as Independence Day approaches. While Hagerstown holds the only July 4th fireworks display at the local airport, neighboring communities spread the festivities throughout the week. Meanwhile, the Richmond Pride Festival brings vibrant energy to the Depot District this Saturday with free entertainment, local vendors, and performances that showcase our community's diverse spirit from noon until 6 p.m., followed by an adults-only after-party at the 911 Tavern.

The Warrior's Dinner, hosted by Preble County Veterans Services, takes place at Jack & Betty's Diner on the second Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. Local American Legion posts and VFW locations across the region offer regular activities including euchre tournaments, karaoke nights, and special dinners open to veterans and often the public. Preble County also provides veterans with free ID cards and a preventative dental program connecting veterans with local dentists for basic annual examinations and cleanings.
🎆 Wayne County towns light up the sky for Independence Day. Hagerstown is the only town holding fireworks on July 4th itself at the local airport. Richmond and Cambridge City will host their displays on July 5th at Glen Miller Park and Creitz Park respectively. The Wayne County 4-H Fairgrounds and Centerville Youth League have already scheduled shows for June 27 and 28, while Fountain City will wrap up celebrations on July 12 at East Diamonds.
