Twin Valley South's Class of 2025 has crossed that monumental finish line, with valedictorians Alexandra Thompson and Brody Bowen sending their classmates into the world with a powerful reminder: "Your time is now." It's a sentiment that resonates deeply as these graduates step forward to write their next chapters, supported by the pride of family, friends, and educators who gathered at Vaughn Field to celebrate their achievements.

Meanwhile, summer's calendar is filling up faster than a swimming pool on the first hot day. From the Englewood Festival seeking parade entries to the "Amazing 5K Trail Run" at Garber Nature Center, there's no shortage of community events to enjoy. And speaking of achievements worth celebrating, Eaton High School's Winterguard team deserves a standing ovation for their perfect season sweep, culminating in a state championship that earned them special recognition from city leadership.

🎓 Proud families celebrate Twin Valley South's Class of 2025 milestone. The graduation ceremony at Vaughn Field brought together loved ones to honor students' achievements under the class motto inspired by Eleanor Roosevelt. Class President Valen Burkett emphasized perseverance and mutual support that defined their journey, while Principal Dr. Dunham recognized students' diverse accomplishments in academics, FFA, and extracurricular activities. Valedictorians Alexandra Thompson and Brody Bowen delivered inspiring addresses encouraging classmates to embrace challenges and seize opportunities with their signature message: "Your time is now."

📅 Community events fill Preble County's summer calendar. The Englewood Festival seeks parade entries for its 51st annual Arts Festival on August 9-10, while Tri-County North Schools announces modified summer hours starting June 2. Eaton Community Schools will hold a special hearing about a proposed retire-rehire during their June 9 board meeting. Other upcoming events include the 102nd Monroe Alumni Association banquet on June 14 and the "Amazing 5K Trail Run" at Garber Nature Center on September 13. Meanwhile, residents should note that Magill Road is closed for an eight-week bridge replacement project.

🏆 Eaton High School Winterguard dominates with perfect season sweep. The team earned first place in all six district competitions and claimed the regional championship title. Their remarkable season culminated on March 29 at the Ohio State Winterguard Championship, where they won gold in the Novice Class against over 100 groups. The program, revived in 2016, has grown from eight participants to a high-performing team of middle and high school students. Eaton City Council honored the 20-member team with a special proclamation presented by Vice Mayor Dave Kirsch during their May 19 meeting.

Joseph "Michael" Mullins

Joseph "Michael" Mullins, 37, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on April 23, 2025. Born on April 8, 1988, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather. He is survived by his mother Sharon and stepfather Gregory Rienhardt, father Joseph Lee Mullins, sister Rachel Clayton, sons Izaak and Jakob, and several other family members including a nephew, nieces, half-siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Flowers for the family can be sent through the funeral home's floral store.
