🏊 Soggy getaway

Preble County • March 26, 2025

Good morning, Preble County. In the realm of dramatic getaways, Christian Black's escape attempt deserves special mention. After crashing a stolen vehicle near I-70, the determined fugitive took a midnight swim across a Walmart pond—only to emerge soaking wet to find police patiently waiting on the other shore. The waterlogged suspect now faces charges of receiving stolen property and obstruction, adding a soggy chapter to local crime stories.

Meanwhile, a 13-hour manhunt ended with murder charges for Dametrius Turner, who allegedly shot a woman five times before fleeing the scene. In more uplifting news, six National Trail Middle School students are making waves on the airwaves, showcasing their newly-acquired podcasting skills on Kicks96 Radio. The collaboration between Preble County Historical Society and Brewer Broadcasting has these young broadcasters quite literally preserving local history through their voices.
