Good morning, Portage County. The night sky above Burton will transform into a canvas of glowing magic next weekend as the Geauga Historical Society launches four magnificent hot air balloons for their second annual Light Up the Balloon Festival. This illuminated spectacle at Century Village Museum offers more than just breathtaking aerial views—it represents a community coming together to preserve its rich heritage, with every horseshoe toss and tethered balloon ride supporting the museum's 29 historical buildings.

From floating through history to diving into documentary cinema, our region continues to showcase cultural richness. The Chagrin Documentary Film Festival returns October 7-12 with 74 films from across the globe, while closer to home, a sobering statistic reminds us that 13.3% of our neighbors face food insecurity. Thankfully, resources through the Akron Canton Food Bank provide vital assistance with pantries operating nearly every weekday throughout the county.
