Pike County • August 29, 2025
Good morning, Pike County. Twenty-three years after that fateful September morning, our community continues to honor the legacy of 9/11 with the Chillicothe VA Medical Center's third annual memorial 5K. The event's 8:46 a.m. ceremony—timed to match when the first plane struck—offers a powerful reminder of how tragedy can unite us, bringing together veterans, medical staff, and neighbors to walk, run, or ride in remembrance of those lost.
Local pride takes center stage as Zane Trace High School senior Allison Payton receives her own designated day before heading to the Miss America's Teen pageant in Orlando. The celebration at the Ross County Courthouse featured enthusiastic support from cheerleading teammates and official proclamations from local leaders. Meanwhile, community safety saw reinforcement through a multi-county operation resulting in four arrests, highlighting how collaboration between law enforcement agencies continues to target serious crime across our region.
