Good morning, Pike County. Mark your calendars for a significant shift in our local landscapeβALDI is officially coming to Waverly after receiving unanimous approval from Village Council. Breaking ground in November 2025 with doors opening by August 2026, this development promises more than just affordable groceries; it's expected to create at least 13 new jobs and potentially attract additional businesses to our community. Mayor Henderson's enthusiasm reflects what many residents have long hoped for: expanded shopping options closer to home.
As one door opens, others extend their reach to those in need. The Chillicothe-Ross Community Foundation has launched its 2025 Fall Grant Cycle, with applications open until October 3rd. This year brings special focus to homelessness initiatives, alongside traditional funding for arts, health services, and community development. This announcement arrives during a week of sobering news, as our community mourns two lives lost in Tuesday's tragic head-on collision with a highway patrol cruiser on State Route 104.
