Good morning, Pike County. When it comes to flooding in Ohio, the old saying "turn around, don't drown" has never been more relevant. Torrential downpours have transformed roads into rivers across central Ohio, with multiple closures in neighboring Hocking, Pickaway, and Ross counties. Flash flooding near Frankfort has even prompted evacuations along Little Creek Road as authorities work to keep residents safe from rapidly rising waters.

On a brighter note, science education is flourishing at Waverly Primary School thanks to a $1,500 boost from Fluor-BWXT Portsmouth. The funding powered the school's fourth annual Science Day, where the adorably named "Tiny Tigers" (preschool through second-grade students) created slime to learn about chemical reactions while older elementary students designed and launched rockets. The intergenerational learning experience even inspired career discussions between the high schoolers and their younger counterparts—proving that scientific curiosity starts small but dreams big.

🔬 Tiny Tigers roar into science with $1,500 boost. Fluor-BWXT Portsmouth's donation funded hands-on activities for Waverly Primary's youngest students during their fourth annual Science Day. High schoolers led preschoolers in making slime to learn about chemical reactions, while older students explored rocket design and launches. "This was an opportunity for my high school students to collaborate and positively influence the Tiny Tigers," said Waverly High School Science Teacher Daniel Sand, noting some students discussed future career plans. The funding allowed the school to expand from simple to more complex activities for their preschool through second-grade students.
