Good morning, Pike County. A sobering reminder of highway fragility unfolded Tuesday when a devastating crash on US-23 left one person trapped in a smoking vehicle and another ejected unconscious. Emergency responders rushed to the scene near Maple Lane, with medical helicopters called in and traffic diverted in both directions—a stark illustration of how quickly ordinary travel can transform into life-altering moments on our roadways.

Meanwhile, the Chillicothe Police Department recently demonstrated the relentless pace of small-town law enforcement, tackling 30 diverse incidents in a single day—from multiple traffic stops to warrant arrests and everything in between. As officers worked through this flurry of activity, Governor DeWine launched efforts to support the 800 Pixelle paper mill employees facing potential job loss, establishing a resource center at the local library and organizing a job fair with 30+ companies for June 25th.
