Pike County • June 10, 2025
Good morning, Pike County. When it comes to community health, the Ross County Health District is taking a comprehensive approach that extends far beyond just treating illness. Their Medical Mobile Unit is bringing services directly to residents, while initiatives like Cribs for Kids and their WIC program are addressing health needs at every life stage. It's a refreshing example of a public institution removing barriers to wellness through education and prevention—something we could all use more of these days.
Meanwhile, a routine shoplifting call at Chillicothe Walmart took a more serious turn when police discovered the suspect was carrying more than just stolen watches. As that situation unfolds in court, the community is gathering for a month-long celebration of Juneteenth with free events spanning from art exhibitions at the Pump House to the unveiling of the "Unheard Voices" exhibit at the Ross County Historical Society—offering multiple opportunities to engage with this important piece of American history.
