🗳️ Micro mighty votes

Pike County • May 8, 2025

Good morning, Pike County. A striking statistic emerges from Tuesday's primary election: just 6.19% of registered Scioto County voters cast ballots. Despite this low turnout, residents made their voices heard on critical community issues, overwhelmingly approving the renewal of a developmental disability services levy and a replacement senior center levy in Jefferson Township. Both measures secure essential funding for the next five years, demonstrating how even small civic participation can make meaningful impacts.

The rain couldn't dampen spirits at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center's third annual Springfest, where over 600 people gathered to support veteran mental health awareness. The event's impressive turnout underscores a sobering reality: veterans represent 14% of adult suicide deaths while comprising only 7% of the adult population. Through car shows, runs, and resource booths, the community rallied around those who've served—proving that sometimes the most important battles our veterans face happen after they return home.
