Good morning, Pike County. When a community faces economic upheaval, the response reveals its true character. Such is the case as Ross County mobilizes to save its paper mill from permanent closure, forming a Weekly Action Response Team to coordinate with stakeholders and attract new investors. This all-hands-on-deck approach demonstrates how rural communities refuse to surrender their economic anchors without a fight, working strategically to preserve livelihoods while planning for future possibilities.

Jackson County, meanwhile, mourns the loss of a true champion of justice. Municipal Court Judge Mark Musick, who passed away May 5, leaves behind a powerful legacy of compassion and innovation through his pioneering Drug Court program. As the community lined streets to honor his motorcade, they weren't just remembering a judge but celebrating someone who saw humanity in every case. Elsewhere in Jackson County, a different kind of pageantry unfolds as seventeen young contestants prepare to compete for royal titles at the upcoming Fair Queen contests.

🏭 Ross County fights to save paper mill from permanent closure. County commissioners have formed a Weekly Action Response Team to coordinate efforts after Pixelle Specialty Solutions announced plans to shut down operations. The team is working with local stakeholders, JobsOhio, and Senator Bernie Moreno to attract new investors through site marketing and on-site visits. Officials are also conducting economic impact analysis and developing comprehensive support approaches for potential investors. Despite concerns about the current owner's commitment, commissioners remain determined to support affected workers while creating opportunities for future investment.
