Pickaway County • April 3, 2025
Good morning, Pickaway County. Abandoned lumber yards rarely get second acts, but Circleville is about to witness exactly that transformation. The former Cellar Lumber site could soon become a vibrant townhome community complete with parks, pools, and a fresh identity for South Central Circleville—though residents will have their chance to weigh in next April before construction begins.
Meanwhile, as Circleville's finest handled everything from domestic incidents on Watt Street to a flurry of false alarms across town, the Blue Lions tennis team was making quick work of their Tiger opponents despite challenging wind conditions. The 4-1 victory showcased Washington's dominance with several shutout performances, while the rebuilding Tigers managed just one win through Reid Seimetz in what's shaping up to be a promising season of local competition on the courts.

🏠 Abandoned lumber yard set for townhome transformation in Circleville. Circleville Investment Group LLC has filed to rezone the former Cellar Lumber site from Industrial Enterprise to Multi-Use Residential, planning 10 multi-unit townhome buildings. The development promises to create a transition between residential and industrial zones while increasing housing options for diverse residents. The community will feature a park, pool, and office space, with access from multiple streets. A public hearing is scheduled for April 2, 2025, allowing residents to voice opinions on this project aimed at revitalizing South Central Circleville.
🚓 Circleville police handle domestic troubles, alarms, and traffic violations. Officers made an arrest following a domestic incident on Watt Street, with another call to the same location involving both domestic trouble and trespassing. The March 31 daily report showed responses to multiple alarm activations, including several false alarms and one where no one was present upon arrival. Traffic-related calls resulted in citations and reports, while officers also conducted welfare checks, responded to suspicious person reports, and handled juvenile complaints. The department addressed various community needs, from 911 hang-ups to noise complaints and probation issues.
🎾 Blue Lions dominate Tigers in chilly tennis showdown. Washington's tennis team secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Circleville despite windy, challenging conditions. Senior Mason Mullins and Nick Walker delivered shutout performances in singles play, while newly formed doubles teams also claimed decisive wins. The rebuilding Tigers, under new coach Megan Freeman, managed their lone victory when Reid Seimetz defeated Jon Rader in second singles. Washington continues their season with upcoming matches against Chillicothe and Hillsboro.
