Good morning, Muskingum County. A century ago, a massive airship fell from the skies over Noble County, forever marking our region's place in aviation history. On August 31, descendants of the USS Shenandoah's captain will join community members to honor the 14 lives lost in this 1925 disaster—a poignant reminder of the pioneers who pushed the boundaries of flight. Meanwhile, another pioneering spirit is evident in Nelsonville, where candidate Andrea Nicole Thompson-Hashman is challenging the City Council's attempt to remove her from November's ballot in a municipal power struggle now headed to the Ohio Supreme Court.

On the volleyball court, Catholic Central's young squad showed promising signs despite falling to Bishop Rosecrans in their home opener. Senior Karlie Nese's six aces and Julia Nurczyk's eight kills highlighted the match as new coach Kaylyn Cochran remains optimistic about her developing team. The Crusaders return to action Tuesday, looking to capture their first win against Harrison Central.

⚖️ Nelsonville candidate fights to stay on ballot amid government dispute. Andrea Nicole Thompson-Hashman, running for auditor under Issue 23, is challenging the City Council's attempt to remove her name from November's election. The council recently voted to repeal Issue 23, a citizen-approved initiative that would change Nelsonville's form of government by abolishing its charter. Thompson-Hashman argues the council lacks authority to repeal the measure, citing a similar case in Zanesville where courts ruled such repeals unconstitutional. With the election less than 12 weeks away, the Ohio Supreme Court is expected to decide quickly on this municipal power struggle.
