🌧️ Soggy spring cleanup

Muskingum County • April 8, 2025

Good morning, Muskingum County. Rain-soaked but undeterred, a dedicated group of volunteers recently transformed Lake Park into a spring-ready oasis. These community champions waded through soggy conditions on April 5, picking up litter and refreshing flower beds—some even making it a family tradition, like the gentleman who regularly brings his grandson fishing at this beloved local spot. Their timing couldn't have been better, with the pavilion receiving special attention just hours before River View's prom celebrations.

Mark your calendars for two upcoming highlights in our county's social schedule. The Zanesville Town Council meets April 15 to discuss community matters, while country-rock sensation Corey Kent—an Oklahoma native who gained fame on The Voice—will headline the Muskingum County Fair on August 14. With grandstand tickets at $25 and a week filled with tractor pulls, rodeo events, and family entertainment, summer's signature event is already taking shape.

Friends of the Park board members joined first-time volunteers from Walmart, picking up litter, spreading mulch, and sprucing up flower beds throughout the grounds. Park Director Tammi Rogers expressed gratitude for the turnout, noting special attention was given to preparing the pavilion for River View's prom that evening. Many volunteers shared personal connections to the park, with one participant saying he regularly brings his grandson fishing there.
