Good morning, Muskingum County. Spring has officially sprung across our region, bringing with it a blossoming calendar of community events. From blood drives to bluegrass performances, April's social schedule is packed tighter than a church parking lot on Easter Sunday. Coshocton County residents can look forward to everything from educational tree programs to fashion boutique shows, while Guernsey County music lovers have the internationally acclaimed McLain Family Band to anticipate—a group that's performed in all 50 states and an impressive 64 countries.

Amid this flurry of activity, eight exceptional women are preparing to take center stage at the 37th annual Muskingum County Women of Achievement banquet on April 9. These remarkable honorees—ranging from healthcare professionals to educators—exemplify the extraordinary talent and dedication that make our community thrive. Their combined contributions in professional excellence and community service represent the very best of what makes Muskingum County special.

📅 Coshocton County packs April with community events and activities. The American Red Cross will host a blood drive on April 7 at New Castle Church in Walhonding. Tree enthusiasts can attend two educational programs at the Coshocton District Library, while fashion lovers can enjoy a boutique show on April 8 at LeRetilley Event Center. Other highlights include the health department's 30th anniversary open house, the final Lenten Luncheon, a garden club meeting featuring a pollinator expert, and musical performances by the Coshocton Community Choir.

🎭 Guernsey County buzzes with spring performances and community events. The Cambridge Singers will present "We've Got Style" May 2-4 at the Scottish Rite Auditorium with tickets starting at $10. Award-winning McLain Family Band headlines the Penneyroyal Opera House bluegrass show on April 11, having performed in all 50 states and 64 countries. Guernsey County Farm Bureau's annual pork chop dinner is set for May 9 with reservations due by May 2. Motorists should expect delays on several county roads as TGS Seismic conducts 60 days of seismographic work that began April 1.

Recipients include Jessica Bridwell Sabine for healthcare, Chloe Buchanan for youth achievement, Ginger Hamilton for business, Karen Lyons for lifetime service, Katie Ware for young adult achievement, Melinda Russell for special recognition, Amanda Blevins for education, and Stephanie Bridwell for professional excellence. Each honoree has demonstrated exceptional dedication through their professional accomplishments and extensive community service throughout Muskingum County.

🙏 In Remembrance

Patricia J MacLean

Patricia "Patty" J. MacLean, 77, of Zanesville, passed away on April 4, 2025, at her home. A 1966 Zanesville High School graduate, she worked at various institutions including First National Bank, Brenwood Salon, Genesis Credit Union, and Sam's Club. Patty was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and watching the Hallmark Channel. She is survived by her two children, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a sister, and her two dogs, while being preceded in death by her husband Robert and son Matthew.
