👨‍⚖️ Justice by numbers

Muskingum County • March 10, 2025

Good morning, Muskingum County. Behind the gavel at Coshocton Municipal Court lies a remarkable story of justice in numbers. Judge Tim France's courtroom processed over 2,000 cases last year while simultaneously saving the community money through creative sentencing – those 438 hours of community service translated to 210 fewer jail days and $2,287 in offset fines. Beyond the legal ledger, the judge even found time to unite 34 couples in marriage, proving that local courts balance both justice and community connection.

From courtrooms to classrooms, our county continues to celebrate excellence in unexpected places. Bus mechanic John Szakal's recognition as Outstanding Classified Staff Member highlights the unsung heroes keeping our schools running smoothly. Meanwhile, healthcare advances with the Maternal and Child Health Center's new ultrasound device bringing vital prenatal care closer to home for local mothers – a $4,789 investment in healthier beginnings for our community's newest members.

🩺 New ultrasound brings crucial prenatal care to Coshocton mothers. This equipment allows Certified Nurse Midwife Amanda Poorman to check on babies' health status throughout pregnancy, providing timely evaluation of fetal development and positioning. While patients will still receive major ultrasounds and deliveries at Knox Community Hospital, this addition expands local healthcare services for pregnant women and children.
