Good morning, Meigs County. Winter may be approaching, but Belpre is plowing ahead with improvements for all seasons. City Council has green-lit measures for a new sewer fund account and a purchase agreement with Badger Lumber, while Mayor Abdella shared exciting updates about a new playground coming to Civitan Park. The city's fresh snow plow has arrived just in time for winter weather, proving that good planning never goes out of season.
Inspirational stories are blooming across our region this week. Ellisha Seabolt, once struggling with addiction herself, has been named West Virginia's Substance Use Disorder Recovery Specialist of the Year for her transformative work with Freedom Fighters Inc. Meanwhile, Ohio University is making history by naming its largest residence hall after Roderick J. McDavis, the institution's first Black president. The 591-bed dormitory stands as a fitting tribute to a leader who raised over half a billion dollars for students during his tenure.
