Good morning, Marion County. The Dublin Irish Festival has transformed Coffman Park into an emerald paradise this weekend, with over 800 performances creating what might be the closest thing to Ireland without a passport. Tens of thousands of visitors are experiencing everything from traditional dancing to whiskey tastings at what's become the world's largest three-day Irish celebration. The festival continues through August 3rd, promising enough Celtic culture to leave everyone feeling a wee bit luckier.
While Dublin celebrates its Irish heritage, the Columbus Zoo is preparing for an even more special debut. A 215-pound baby Asian elephant will make her first public appearance on August 4th, delighting visitors during limited morning viewings. Born to first-time mom Sunny after a 22-month pregnancy, this endangered calf represents a significant conservation milestone. Meanwhile, Saturday evening saw a different kind of excitement when an SUV rollover on I-270 sent two people to the hospital, though thankfully both are reported in stable condition.
