Good morning, Marion County. A stark reminder of roadway dangers came this weekend as 82-year-old Brenda Farley lost her life in a head-on collision on Route 36. The Mechanicsburg resident's Honda Accord was struck when another vehicle crossed the center line—a heartbreaking incident that underscores how quickly life can change on our highways, even when safety precautions like seatbelts are followed.

On a brighter note, local teen Sara Bailey has brought honor to our community as Ohio's 4-H Teen of the Year. The 18-year-old Beaver Local graduate is heading to Ohio State University with dreams of becoming a veterinarian, representing our region at the National 4-H Congress this fall. Meanwhile, a healthcare storm brews as Ohio's pharmacy crisis deepens, with new budget changes threatening to accelerate closures that create concerning healthcare deserts across our state.

💊 Ohio's pharmacy crisis deepens with devastating budget changes. The state's pharmacies face a dire future as a House-Senate committee approved language that eliminates dispensing fees while keeping reimbursement restrictions. Ohio lost 215 pharmacies last year, dropping below 2,000 for the first time, creating healthcare deserts that particularly harm vulnerable populations. The Ohio Pharmacists Association warns this compromise will force pharmacies to operate without profit margins, predicting an "explosion" of closures in coming months. Governor DeWine has the power to veto the provision, while questions arise about the Ohio Chamber of Commerce's opposition to dispensing fees.
