Good morning, Marion County. The rhythm of rural life is beating strongly as Ohio wheat farmers gather to tackle mounting challenges from fungus to fluctuating markets. At OSU's Small Grains Field Day, about 50 agricultural producers sought expert guidance on maximizing yields while battling nature's unpredictability—a testament to the resilience powering our state's third-largest grain crop despite global market pressures.

Meanwhile, nature is making unexpected appearances across Central Ohio as black bears venture into unfamiliar territory. With three confirmed sightings this month—including two bears tragically killed by vehicles—wildlife officials remind us to keep our distance during this peak migration season. In cultural news, musician Sinkane's new album "We Belong" offers a refreshing dose of optimism, blending funk, soul and jazz while celebrating community connections during challenging times.

🌾 Ohio wheat farmers battle nature, markets, and rising costs. Around 50 farmers gathered at Ohio State University's annual Small Grains Field Day seeking expert advice on navigating challenges like fungus infestations and weather changes. Wheat, Ohio's third-largest grain crop, faces profitability pressures from global market uncertainties and rising production costs. Farmers like Owen Niese are working to expand international markets, recently hosting South American grain mill leaders and meeting with Vietnamese trade delegations. Meanwhile, agricultural experts are developing tools to help farmers maximize yields while minimizing costs in an increasingly competitive landscape.

🎵 Sinkane's new album radiates joy despite challenging times. Ahmed Gallab, who performs as Sinkane, created "We Belong" after focusing on personal healing and connecting with his community. The album features collaborations across NYC's diverse music scenes, blending funk, soul, and jazz while celebrating Black joy and collective power. Though addressing racial injustice, Gallab counters oppression with defiant optimism—a stance that's gained new significance amid political attacks on immigrant and minority communities. As Sudan faces a humanitarian crisis, Gallab embraces his role as a voice for the overlooked.

🐻 Black bears are making unexpected appearances across Central Ohio. Multiple sightings have been confirmed this month, including two bears that were tragically killed after being struck by vehicles. A third bear was spotted near the Clark and Champaign County line, bringing this year's total to three confirmed sightings in the region.
