Good morning, Licking County. When emergency responders rushed to Summit Station Intermediate School Thursday, it highlighted how quickly school officials must act when student safety is concerned. What initially triggered a "mass casualty event" response turned out to be a broken glass pipe that tested negative for narcotics, though the incident sent three students to the hospital as a precaution. Officials have reassured families there's no ongoing threat to the school community, while reminding students to report suspicious items immediately.

Three students at Summit Station Intermediate School were hospitalized Thursday after a classmate brought what was initially suspected to be drug paraphernalia. The Licking County Sheriff's Office determined the pipe tested negative for narcotics, though the incident triggered a "mass casualty event" response when some students reported not feeling well.
