Good morning, Licking County. Memorial Day weekend brings a profound 152-year tradition to Granville's streets, as the community prepares to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. From cemetery ceremonies beginning at 9:30am to the 10:40am parade and Mayor Hartfield's address, this longstanding ritual reminds us why we pause each year to remember our fallen heroes—not unlike the exceptional EMS professionals recently celebrated at Ohio's Star of Life Awards, where dedicated first responders were recognized for rushing toward danger when others flee.

While some residents pay solemn respects this weekend, others might still be recovering from Sonic Temple's metal madness that drew a staggering 175,000 headbangers to Columbus. The four-day festival transformed Historic Crew Stadium into a paradise for fans of Metallica, Linkin Park, and Rob Zombie, proving that central Ohio can shake the earth with the best of them—though perhaps with slightly less reverence than Monday's ceremonies.
