🛡️ West Virginia grants $2.5 million to fight child abuse statewide. Governor Patrick Morrisey announced funding for 22 programs dedicated to addressing child abuse, neglect, and sexual assault across the Mountain State. North Star Child Advocacy Center received $136,365 as part of the initiative supporting organizations that provide crucial services like advocacy, forensic interviews, and therapy. Additionally, $383,366 in Sexual Assault Kit Initiative funds were allocated to improve response to sexual assault cases and address backlogs. All funding is administered through the West Virginia Division of Administrative Services under the Department of Homeland Security.
