Good morning, Jackson County. Fourteen consecutive years of gold-standard recognition doesn't happen by accident. Ohio University's newly awarded Military Friendly Schools® designation highlights their exceptional commitment to veterans and military families, creating pathways to higher education for those who've served our country. This dedication to excellence is also evident in student leadership, where rising junior Trevor Gillam's outstanding work at WOUB earned him the prestigious 73 West State Street Award—a scholarship specifically created to recognize student workers making significant contributions.
While academic achievements shine brightly in our community, so do the dedicated individuals working behind the scenes in our schools. Tammi Wade, an aide at Neale Elementary, has been honored as Wood County's Service Personnel of the Year, recognizing her invaluable contributions to education. These stories of institutional excellence and individual recognition remind us that our region thrives through both organizational commitment and personal dedication.
