Good morning, Jackson County. The rural landscape of Appalachian Ohio is transforming into an unexpected gaming mecca as Final Boss Con leveled up to a two-day extravaganza at the University of Rio Grande. Drawing enthusiasts from seven states, this celebration of all things "nerd culture" featured voice actors from Pokémon, screenwriters from horror classics, and competitive gaming tournaments that proved small towns can host big entertainment. The convention's success has already secured its return for April 2026, bringing a vibrant cultural touchpoint to our region.

On the healthcare front, Wellston residents will soon benefit from a dramatic upgrade as Adena Health breaks ground on a family medicine facility four times larger than the current clinic. The 8,600-square-foot space, complete with expanded exam rooms and a drive-thru pharmacy, represents a significant investment in rural healthcare access. Opening in early 2026, this collaborative project addresses growing medical needs throughout Jackson and Vinton counties—ensuring better care closer to home.
