πŸ† Breaking barriers

Jackson County • April 2, 2025

Good morning, Jackson County. Breaking barriers and shattering glass ceilings, Dr. Eddith Dashiell has made history as the first woman and African American inducted into the Ohio Communication Hall of Fame. After three decades of championing journalistic integrity at Ohio University, her retirement this summer marks the end of an era that has shaped countless careers in media. Her recognition arrives just as we're reminded that excellence and achievement continue to flourish in our community despite challenges.

Speaking of challenges, local law enforcement has been handling situations ranging from the serious to the surreal. While a knife attack in South Webster resulted in four injuries and two arrests over the weekend, Athens County deputies found themselves mediating a domestic dispute triggered by a discarded milkshake. The latter joins other unusual calls including an unfounded report about a cat bringing home human remainsβ€”proving that truth can indeed be stranger than fiction in our corner of Ohio.
