Geauga County • April 24, 2025
Good morning, Geauga County. Behind every community are remarkable individuals whose legacies shine long after they're gone. Carolann Kavaliauskas embodied this spirit perfectlyโthe adventurous Parkman Township resident who once rode horseback from Burton to Cleveland as a teenager continued that bold approach to life during her 31-year battle with multiple sclerosis, surrounded by the family she fiercely protected until her peaceful passing last week.
Meanwhile, notable changes are reshaping local landmarks across the region. Quail Hollow Resort has found new ownership after selling for over $3 million at auction, marking a new chapter for the Concord Township property. The transformation theme continues at Brush High School, where Dr. Seuss's beloved characters are springing to life in "Seussical, Jr."โa production that's bringing together students from across the South Euclid-Lyndhurst district despite financial challenges, proving that imagination and community spirit can overcome even the trickiest of obstacles.

๐น Carolann Kavaliauskas fought multiple sclerosis for 31 years before passing peacefully. The 68-year-old Parkman Township resident died on April 19, 2025, surrounded by her husband Tony and their children. Known for her fierce protection of family and adventurous spirit, Carol once rode a horse from Burton to Cleveland as a teenager. She devoted her life to her husband of nearly 42 years, their four daughters, and her two grandchildren, while cherishing travel, concerts, and outdoor activities despite her long health battle.
๐จ Quail Hollow Resort sells for over $3 million in auction. Judge Jeffrey Ruple of Lake County Common Pleas Court approved the sale of the Concord Township property following an online auction in March. Receiver Prodigy Properties and buyer Terra Silva Holdings reached an agreement with a contract price of $3,026,210, according to court documents. The resort, located at 11080 Concord-Hambden Road, will now change hands after the judicial approval of the transaction.
๐ญ Dr. Seuss characters come alive in Brush High's spring musical. "Seussical, Jr." will feature students from across the South Euclid-Lyndhurst school district performing at the Brush Performing Arts Center April 24-27. Director Lauren Sturdivant highlights how the production has united the community, with alumni returning to help and every school building represented. Despite financial challenges with production costs nearing $4,000, the team's dedication has made the whimsical show possible. Tickets are available online for this all-district celebration of beloved Seuss characters like The Cat in the Hat, Horton, and JoJo.
