🔥 Fiery escape

Geauga County • March 26, 2025

Good morning, Geauga County. In the span of mere moments, a Tuesday morning in Painesville transformed from ordinary to extraordinary as flames engulfed a Marion Avenue home. While the structure now stands uninhabitable from fire and smoke damage, there's a silver lining worth celebrating – both the resident and his loyal canine companion escaped unharmed before firefighters arrived at the scene around 10:02 a.m. to battle the blaze.

Meanwhile, Waite Hill Police Department is celebrating a significant achievement as Lt. Stephen J. Gerics returns from the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, an experience he calls "the greatest accomplishment in my law enforcement career." For Cleveland commuters, prepare to adjust your Wednesday plans as Mayfield Road closes for maintenance between Murray Hill and Kenilworth, with RTA's #9 route implementing temporary detours until Thursday afternoon.
