Good morning, Fayette County. Washington Court House is humming with economic vitality as 53 development projects fill the pipeline. Economic Development Director Chelsie Baker delivered the encouraging news alongside announcements of new hires and approved loans for local businesses like Revital Life Wellness and Good Day Groomery. City finances remain robust with clean audits, while key leadership positions including fire chief and service director are in the interview stage—all signs pointing to a community building momentum.

Just across county lines, a troubling deadline looms for Highland County families. Without federal funding by November 2025, Head Start programs serving 177 children could shut down, eliminating vital early education and support services that require at least $183,000 monthly to maintain. Meanwhile, Highland County Sheriff's deputies stayed remarkably busy with 133 calls in just 48 hours, handling everything from domestic disturbances to vehicle theft while managing a jail population that skews heavily male.

🏫 Head Start shutdown threatens 177 Highland County children and families. The Highland County Community Action Organization warns that without federal funding by November 1, 2025, they'll be forced to close or find alternative funding sources. The program needs at least $183,000 monthly to maintain operations that provide early education, health screenings, meals, and family support in rural areas.
