Fayette County • October 9, 2025
Good morning, Fayette County. Fall traditions are taking center stage as fourteen young women prepare to compete for the Fall Festival of Leaves crown on October 16 at Bainbridge's historic Paxton Theatre. With this year's "Queen of the Corral" theme, the scholarship pageant promises to be a highlight of the autumn season, with $5 tickets available at 634 Coffee & Café until October 15 for those wanting to witness this community celebration.
On a more somber note, our region faces both healing and hardship. While Highland County Church of Christ's Celebrate Recovery program offers a Christ-centered lifeline to those battling addiction through its Friday evening gatherings, the MAHLE manufacturing plant in Mt. Sterling is winding down operations after a century in business. The phased closure beginning December 1 will impact 141 workers, marking the end of an industrial era that dates back to 1920.

🙏 Church's recovery program helps people break free from addiction. Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered support program at Highland County Church of Christ, offers a safe space for those battling chemical dependencies and other life-controlling issues. The free program, which often draws more attendees than Sunday services, meets Friday evenings with dinner, lessons, and small group sharing sessions. Unlike Alcoholics Anonymous, Celebrate Recovery specifically identifies Jesus as the higher power and bases its teachings on Biblical principles. Program representative Rick Moore hopes county commissioners can help spread awareness about this valuable community resource.

MAHLE, which specializes in automotive technology with a focus on climate-neutral mobility solutions, will maintain operations at its Dayton location.
