🔒 Canadian man sentenced for attempted theft targeting vulnerable person. Yashkumar Patel received jail time and community control after pleading guilty to an attempted theft charge in Highland County, Ohio. The 23-year-old Ontario resident was part of a scheme where someone posed as a federal agent to deceive a victim into believing their personal information was compromised. Patel must either reside in Highland County or face deportation to India, with his case forwarded to ICE for possible deportation action. The more serious second-degree felony charge against him was dismissed as part of his plea agreement.

John Landman, 62, died Sunday evening when his Harley-Davidson failed to negotiate a curve on Good Hope New Holland Road in Fayette County. According to Ohio State Highway Patrol investigators, the motorcycle went off the roadway and struck a utility pole around 7:06 p.m. Landman was pronounced dead at the scene. Multiple agencies responded to assist, including the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, Wayne Township Fire Department, and the county coroner, as the crash remains under investigation.
