Good morning, Fayette County. The night sky lit up for all the wrong reasons early Sunday morning as Washington Fire Department crews battled a massive barn fire that did more than just destroy a structure—it knocked out power and cable services when flames reached the height of utility lines. The three-hour battle against the $50,000 blaze behind Clinton Avenue showcases our first responders' dedication, while AES, Spectrum, and GloFiber technicians scrambled to restore essential services.

On the lighter side of local happenings, Carnegie Library has transformed into a summer activity hub with offerings for every age group. From Little Free Libraries dotting the county to preschool storytimes and teen friendship bracelet workshops, there's no shortage of enrichment opportunities. Meanwhile, the Highland County Sheriff's Office reports remind us that even in small towns, the police blotter fills up with domestic disputes and alcohol-related incidents as summer heats up.
