Good morning, Fairfield County. Mark your calendars for an epic celebration as Ohio unveils more than 50 events commemorating America's 250th birthday in 2026. From winter hikes at Hocking Hills to history tours across the state's natural treasures, the year-long festivities invite residents to immerse themselves in both nature and national heritage. Meanwhile, local teens just received a life-changing opportunity through a $1.5 million grant that's expanding the "Drive to Succeed" program, offering free driver education typically costing up to $900.

Tuesday brought a sobering reminder about school safety when Amanda-Clearcreek School District evacuated students after discovering a written threat. While officials don't currently believe the threat is credible, the district quickly implemented safety protocols while working with the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office. As the investigation continues, authorities have asked the community to avoid spreading unverified information—sound advice in any concerning situation.

The Fairfield County Educational Service Center received the funding to expand its "Drive to Succeed" program, which offers scholarships covering driver training typically costing $400-900. Launched by Governor Mike DeWine in 2022, the initiative helps low-income young drivers under 21 overcome financial barriers to proper training. The program provides 24 hours of classroom instruction and eight hours of behind-the-wheel training, improving both safety outcomes and access to reliable transportation for school and work. Over 5,100 students statewide have already benefited from the scholarship program.
