Good morning, Fairfield County. In the quiet moments of a routine welfare check, Officer Smart of Lancaster Police Department revealed the true meaning of service by purchasing food for a struggling single mother and her children. This act of compassion—just one of many she performs without seeking recognition—reminds us that heroism often happens in small, unheralded moments when no cameras are rolling. Beyond her generous spirit, she's celebrated for volunteering for overtime and participating in the Columbus Marathon.
Meanwhile, Ohio's $6 million investment in driver education will help 10,000 young residents across all 88 counties overcome financial barriers to getting licensed. And for our veterans, healing is on the horizon as Valor Retreat in Rockbridge prepares to break ground on its first two cabins. The 22-acre sanctuary will eventually offer nature trails and therapeutic activities where combat veterans can reconnect with nature—and each other—in a tranquil setting designed for recovery.
