Fairfield County • June 10, 2025
Good morning, Fairfield County. The economic landscape of Ohio is being reshaped right in our backyard. Ohio University Lancaster's new Semiconductor Technician Certificate program represents a significant shift in local education, preparing students for high-demand manufacturing roles through hands-on training in specialized clean rooms. This one-year program, launching fall 2025, creates flexible pathways to employment in an industry that's rapidly expanding across the state—proof that the future of tech doesn't always require a four-year degree or a move to Silicon Valley.
Healthcare options are expanding too, with the opening of ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital bringing specialized care closer to home. The 36-bed facility isn't just addressing a critical need for patients recovering from strokes and brain injuries; it's also injecting more than 100 healthcare jobs into our local economy. From chef-prepared meals to training suites that simulate home environments, this Southeast Ohio addition demonstrates how rural communities can attract sophisticated medical services previously found only in metropolitan areas.
