Good morning, Fairfield County. Age is truly just a number at Lancaster's iconic Mount Pleasant, where 90-year-olds are conquering the 300-foot sandstone bluff alongside visitors of all generations. This community treasure—illuminated at night and celebrated with fireworks—has been bringing residents together since 1929, when the first Easter sunrise service created a tradition that continues nearly a century later. The spectacular views of Lancaster and the fairgrounds aren't just photo opportunities; they're living proof that some landmarks transcend time.

The county's public safety initiatives are getting a significant boost, with Sheriff Alex Lape securing a $78,000 grant from Governor DeWine's violent crime reduction program. The funds arrive as neighboring Hocking County prepares for new health leadership in 2025, and as Berne Union school bus drivers sharpen their crisis response skills through realistic emergency training. These behind-the-scenes preparations rarely make headlines until they're needed—but when that moment comes, they make all the difference.
