Good morning, Fairfield County. A slice of local history has hit the real estate market with the listing of the century-old Wehrle Mansion for $3.5 million. This 1917 architectural gem—complete with stained glass, fountains, and dual kitchens—stands as a testament to the legacy of the family behind the once-thriving Wehrle Stove Company. Now surrounded by modern development rather than its original hundreds of acres, the mansion represents how our landscape continually evolves while preserving touches of the past.

While some local treasures are finding new caretakers, others need protection. The Ohio BMV warns residents about sophisticated scammers sending fake traffic ticket texts—a reminder to delete suspicious messages immediately rather than clicking unknown links. On a more positive note, the Pet Orphanage's upcoming free spay/neuter clinics offer a practical solution to cat overpopulation. If you're interested, plan to arrive early on June 14th, as these community-minded services typically draw crowds.

🏰 Historic Buckeye Lake mansion hits market for $3.5 million. The Wehrle Mansion, built in 1917 by the family behind the Wehrle Stove Company of Newark, sits on 5 acres along a Buckeye Lake inlet. Once spanning hundreds of acres on the eastern end of the lake, the property now finds itself nestled within the Heron Bay housing development. The grand residence features multiple living areas, a billiards room with stained glass, a four-season sun room with fountain, and two kitchens including a "summer kitchen."

🚨 Scammers posing as Ohio BMV target drivers with fake traffic tickets. Text messages claim recipients must pay immediately or face license suspension in this nationwide phishing scheme. Ohio BMV Registrar Charlie Norman warns residents not to click any links and to delete these texts immediately. The Bureau emphasizes it will never text customers demanding payment or requesting personal information. Victims should report scam attempts to the Federal Trade Commission and contact local law enforcement if they believe they've been defrauded.
