📜 Roots revealed

Fairfield County • March 31, 2025

Good morning, Fairfield County. Did you know that hidden in faded cursive handwriting and dusty archives might be the key to unlocking your family's past? Local genealogy enthusiasts are getting exactly that opportunity this spring as the Southern Ohio Genealogical Society hosts two educational programs on vital records and deciphering historical documents. Both in-person and Zoom options ensure everyone can connect with their roots, regardless of their location.

Meanwhile, the spotlight shines on remarkable community members of all ages. At Fairfield Elementary, fourth graders are transforming into confident broadcasters through student-run morning announcements, complete with themed segments that have turned shy kids into school "rock stars." On the other end of the age spectrum, 83-year-old David England's lifetime of service—from classified Air Force missions to decades of community leadership—has earned him the key to the city and his very own day. Now that's leaving a legacy.
