๐Ÿ‘‹ Farewell, coach

Fairfield County • April 1, 2025

โ€‹

Good morning, Fairfield County. After three decades of shaping young athletes and amassing an astounding 856 combined wins, legendary coach Doug Fisher has stepped away from the dugout and sidelines at Sheridan. His March 13 resignation marks the end of an era for local sports, though Fisher hasn't completely closed the door on coaching again "if the right opportunity presents itself." The impact of his 401 baseball wins, 440 basketball victories, and that memorable 2019 state basketball appearance will resonate through hallways for generations.

Meanwhile, Pickerington schools are building for the future with a massive $120 million expansion plan to accommodate growing enrollment. The ambitious project includes 29,000-square-foot additions to both high schools and a state-of-the-art junior high, creating modern learning environments by 2026. On a somber note, our community mourns two motorcyclists who lost their lives in an early Sunday morning crash on Ohio 161 near I-270.

โšพ Legendary coach Doug Fisher resigns after 30 years at Sheridan. The respected baseball and basketball coach stepped down on March 13, ending a career that amassed 856 combined wins across both sports. Fisher, who taught at the Northern Local Schools district since 1993, cited that his "heart just wasn't in it this spring" as the reason for his unexpected departure. His impressive career included 401 baseball wins, 440 basketball victories, multiple Muskingum Valley League titles, and a Division II state basketball appearance in 2019. Fisher didn't rule out coaching again "if the right opportunity presents itself."
