Fairfield County • February 6, 2025
Good morning, Fairfield County. The aroma of Seattle-style teriyaki is about to become a lot more familiar in Central Ohio. As Teriyaki Madness plans its triple expansion with new spots in Worthington, Dublin, and Hamilton Road, it seems our region can't get enough of those made-to-order chicken bowls. Who knew a Seattle sensation would find such a warm welcome in the Midwest?
While some are focused on future flavors, others are preserving pieces of our past. Tucked away in Pickerington's Coyote Run nature preserve, a 134-year-old tabernacle stands as a silent witness to history - its wooden walls once echoing with hymns and summer gatherings. Now it anchors 230 acres of protected land, offering a peaceful counterpoint to this week's sobering Municipal Court proceedings in Lancaster.

βͺοΈ Historic tabernacle's 134-year legacy lives on in Ohio nature preserve. Between 1889-1911, religious gatherings drew crowds to a wooden tabernacle in Pickerington for two-week summer retreats. The United Brethren Association built the structure using locally harvested wood, hosting daily meetings, music performances, and children's programs by candlelight. The historic site, one of few original tabernacles remaining in Ohio, now anchors Coyote Run, a 230-acre nature preserve established in 2021. While privately owned, the land's rich biodiversity can be experienced through Fairfield County Parks events.
