❄️ Winter wonders

Fairfield County • January 23, 2025

Good morning, Fairfield County. When temperatures plunge below zero, even the bravest among us question our Midwestern fortitude. At Rising Park this weekend, dedicated dog walkers bundled up like Arctic explorers while ice formations created nature's own winter art installation beneath our overpasses. And yes, those drive-thru coffee shops are indeed becoming our collective survival strategy.

While some of us are hibernating through this deep freeze, there's plenty happening in our community. The new Canal Winchester library project reached a milestone with its final beam placement, marking exciting progress on the massive 30,000-square-foot facility. Meanwhile, law enforcement is actively investigating a tragic shooting in Pleasant Township, with deputies seeking the public's assistance in gathering additional information.

☕️ What's Brewing Locally

📚 Canal Winchester's new library reaches major milestone with final beam placement. The Columbus Metropolitan Library celebrated the "topping out" ceremony of its new Canal Winchester Branch on January 14, marking significant progress in the construction project. The upcoming 30,000-square-foot facility will be more than five times larger than the current express branch on Franklin Street. While construction continues, the existing branch will remain open to serve the community with its regular hours. The new standalone facility, located at 123 Groveport Road, is expected to open its doors to the public in 2026.
