Good morning, Dev Test County. The future has arrived at Dallas schools, where a new AI task force is navigating the promising yet complex digital landscape of education technology. While the district emphasizes that robots won't replace teachers anytime soon, the challenges are real—nearly half of Dallas students received zeros on AI-graded state exams, highlighting the delicate balance between innovation and equality in our classrooms.

Meanwhile, red tape is getting slashed across the city. The newly launched DallasNow platform promises to streamline everything from business permits to inspection scheduling, while Cityplace Tower undergoes a dramatic $445 million transformation from office space to nearly 1,000 residential units. The ambitious makeover includes both luxury apartments and income-restricted housing, with construction expected to begin later this year—another sign of Dallas's ever-evolving skyline.

🤖 Dallas schools embrace AI while wrestling with digital divide concerns. The district's new AI task force aims to enhance teaching and learning while requiring parental consent and emphasizing that AI won't replace teachers. Meanwhile, state-level AI implementation has already caused problems, with nearly 50% of Dallas students receiving zeros on AI-graded STAAR exam essays. As AI integration accelerates, questions persist about whether these technologies will bridge educational gaps or deepen existing inequalities. Community engagement remains crucial to ensure AI becomes a tool for progress rather than an obstacle to educational equity.

🏙️ Dallas launches DallasNow to cut through permitting red tape. The new cloud-based system streamlines business permits, zoning applications, and inspection scheduling on a single digital platform. After two years of development, DallasNow aims to improve transparency by allowing real-time tracking of applications and automating previously manual processes. City officials believe the system will enhance efficiency, reduce paperwork, and minimize the need for in-person visits to planning offices. The city is offering hands-on support sessions through mid-May to help users navigate the new system.
