🏭 Midtown makeover

Dev Test County • March 10, 2025

Good morning, Dev Test County. After 40 years of vacancy, Cleveland's Warner & Swasey building is finally waking from its industrial slumber. The abandoned Midtown factory has secured a $52 million transformation plan that will breathe new life into the historic structure with 112 affordable housing units and commercial spaces. Construction is set to begin this fall after developers recently received verbal approval from Cleveland's planning commission, potentially catalyzing investment in a previously overlooked section of Midtown.

Meanwhile, beautiful harmonies are creating powerful connections in our community. A retired English teacher recently witnessed the magic that happens when educators truly believe in their students during Solon Middle School's Winter Concert, noting remarkable improvement in musicianship and beautiful diversity among performers. And speaking of powerful partnerships, two women-led businesses—SpiderCat Marketing and Rosace Enterprises—celebrated International Women's Day by announcing their strategic collaboration to expand digital marketing capabilities while supporting women in leadership roles.

Developers secured verbal approval from Cleveland's planning commission and plan to begin stabilization this summer, with construction starting in fall. The project, which includes 112 residential units, overcame numerous funding hurdles thanks to tax credits and a $1 million allocation from Cleveland City Council.
