🍂 Autumn gears

Good morning, Darke County. The landscape of local industry is expanding as New Bremen secures 90 acres of farmland for future development through a swift $2.8 million purchase. This strategic acquisition highlights how quickly communities must move to position themselves for economic growth opportunities—not unlike the Piqua police department's weekend, where officers responded to everything from multiple hit-and-runs to trespassing calls across town in a flurry of activity that demonstrated the non-stop nature of maintaining public safety.

Fall's nostalgic charm is on full display at Lake Loramie State Park, where three generations gathered around a century-old Fairbanks Morris engine at the Fall Harvest Festival. As children navigated straw mazes and participated in power wheel drag races, the event perfectly captured that quintessential autumn experience—bringing together history, community, and seasonal traditions that connect us to simpler times while creating new memories for families across the region.

🏭 New Bremen secures 90 acres for future industrial expansion. Village Council unanimously approved the $2.8 million farmland purchase from the Schmiesing estate through an emergency ordinance. Village Administrator Brent Richter explained the acquisition was determined by sealed bids accepted last Saturday. The land will potentially accommodate growth at the village's industrial park and may be used for a possible farmland swap if needed. Officials acted quickly, suggesting urgency in securing the property for the Ohio community's development plans.

A warrant arrest was also made Sunday when officers took a male into custody from Young Street.
