WXIX-TV sports director Joe Danneman and Ohio Newsroom reporter Erin Gottsacker are the only two Cincinnati recipients of the regional honor. Danneman won for excellence in writing, showcasing stories including a Pete Rose remembrance and profiles of local athletes. Gottsacker, a Cincinnati native and Milford High School graduate, earned her award for excellence in sound with a profile of an Athens County mandolin maker. The winners will be honored at the Edward R. Murrow Awards Gala in New York City on October 13.
